A Community Impact

Metro Lexus, Medina High School students and W.A.G.S. 4 Kids Helped One Medina Resident Secure a New Service Dog

The spirit and compassion woven into the Medina community is once again shining brightly and Metro Lexus is part of this heartwarming tale. Recently, Metro Lexus, Medina High School students and W.A.G.S. 4 Kids —  a local nonprofit dedicated to matching service dogs with children in need — came together in a remarkable show of solidarity to help Vincie, a Medina High School student, secure a new service dog. Vincie, who has bravely faced numerous health challenges from birth, including a 13Q chromosomal deletion and mild cerebral palsy, lost his beloved service dog, Harper, a critical companion that helped him navigate his daily medical treatments and provided emotional support.

The financial burden of acquiring a new service dog, estimated at $18,000, could have been a daunting obstacle. However, the Medina community's collective response was swift and generous, embodying the true essence of community spirit.

Peter Mapp, Vice President of Metro Lexus and a long-time resident of Medina, was eager to extend a helping hand: "The community of Medina has always had a special place in our hearts," Mapp shared. "When we heard about Vincie's need for a new service dog, it was only natural for us to step up and offer our support. That's what community is all about." Metro Lexus backed their words with a $500 donation to W.A.G.S. 4 Kids.

The support did not stop there. The spirit of generosity spread throughout MHS and beyond. MHS senior and bandmate, Lexi Council, spearheaded a pizza fundraiser at a local restaurant, creating an opportunity for students, parents and community members to come together and contribute to Vincie's cause. The event was a resounding success, highlighting the close-knit fabric of the Medina community.

Adding to the collective efforts, W.A.G.S. 4 Kids announced they would cover half of the cost for Vincie's new service dog. This organization, which works tirelessly year-round to support families in need, serves 25 counties in northeast and central Ohio. Their commitment to assisting Vincie underscores their mission and amplifies the impact of the community's fundraising efforts.

In Medina, this inspiring journey is a reminder that community support is invaluable, and together, they can overcome any hurdle, big or small. Metro Lexus and the Medina community’s unwavering support for Vincie reflects the heart of their town and serves as a shining example of what it means to truly care for one another.
