With the colder months creeping steadily upon us, we may find ourselves looking for more indoor activities. Right here in Kansas City is the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, and now through September 5, 2021 they have a special exhibit: Bridging the Gender Divide: Toys That Build STEM Skills.

Spend the afternoon walking through a fascinating display of the evolution of toys and entertainment that build STEM skills. This brand new exhibit does not disappoint. Toys promoting STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) fields were very much geared towards a male audience when they were first introduced. This exhibit highlights some of these toys, and how they have evolved over the years to become more inclusive.

This exhibit also showcases some exciting achievements by women in STEM, and some of the obstacles they had to overcome in their given fields. Both educational, and entertaining, the museum has put together an exhibit that will resonate with all audiences.
