A new designer has moved to town and we were thrilled to catch up with her at her new residence. Darci Hether is now working between New York City and Ridgefield where she works with clients to help them design and create spaces ideal for them!
What brought you to NYC?
The hope of experiencing the four seasons and to hone my design skills for a more modern aesthetic. I moved to NYC in spring of 2002 and I worked with a couple amazing firms over the course of 5 years before going out on my own. I always knew I would have my own firm but I wanted to learn about the city and all of its nuances before hanging my shingle.
What is your design style?
Approachable luxury - classic, timeless, clean lines and uncluttered. We create sophisticated, enduring interiors that are both elevated and approachable and livable.
-What are some of the exciting projects that you have been able to work on in NYC?
We’ve designed several pied-à-terre projects in luxurious high-rise buildings - working with clients that live all over the world - to create their turn-key, fully completed home-away-from-home in the Big Apple. Our detailed design process has also allowed us to seamlessly design residences - including ground-up construction projects and full gut renovation projects - in Florida, Nantucket, Westchester and the Hamptons. Currently, we are working on a 3-story condo in Steamboat Springs CO and a vacation home on Shelter Island.
Do you hope to serve clients in town as well as the city?
Absolutely! Having a home office that I work from 2-3 days a week makes it very easy for me to see clients locally while being in the city 2-3 days a week allows me to shop and source all of the beautiful furnishings and materials we like to incorporate into all of our designs. It’s the best of both worlds!
