Best Local Restaurant
Gram and Dun on the Plaza, in my humble opinion, has one of THE most picture perfect settings: With its cozy fire pit, festively lit patio facing south towards Brushcreek’s architecturally lined Ward Parkway border, these elements only scratch the surface of the cool and earthy tones + vibe that make up one of my all time favorite restaurants inside and out.
Whether you reside in and around KC and hold the Plaza experience close to your heart, or perhaps you are hosting friends and family and looking for an incredible food + drink experience amongst a relaxed, yet elevated ambiance, Gram and Dun is a “place for the people.”
People like me, that is, who can’t get enough of their Asian Pig Wings with Sake Soy Glaze and The Smoking Dun rich with Redemption Rye, Cherry, and Hickory Smoked Ice.
“Sophisticated, soulful, and crafted.”
Sophisticated, as in Brunch Cocktail Cart served tableside, sophisticated. Get your Bloody Mary/Mimosa/Brunch Punch action on, paired with the likes of Smoked Pork Hash, Baleadas, or house-made Maple Sausage. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays from from 9:30am - 3:30pm and will meet your savory and sweet sides with add'l options like the Gram Cinnamon Roll, Farm to Market Bread "Planks" topped with your choice of options like Citrus-cure Salmon, Egg Salad, and Chorizo.
Soulful, as in Blackened Shrimp and Grits with Jalapeno Avocado Gravy, Spicy Bourbon Chicken and Blue Corn Waffles with Vanilla, Pimento Mac & Cheese, and Goat Cheese and Chive Smashed Red Potatoes. Dinner is servced 3pm - 9:30pm on weekdays and 4pm - 9:30pm on weekends with an extensive menu also including their well known and localized concept of Burnt Mac & Cheese, Smoked Duck Carbonara, Brussels & Kale Salad, and Not-so-Standard Potato Chips with a house-made sauce flight.
Crafted, as in Basil Smash, Mexican Mule, and Old-Fashioned, amongst a sea of Wine and Beer Selections.
Warm and Textured Design Tones
G&D’s environment consists of a slanted roof with wood beams in the main dining room, backed by a 4 season bar that splits between the inside dome and the outside patio.
For parties looking for more room and/or privacy, Gram and Dun offers the (fully) private Boar Room downstairs, as well as the (semi-) private Back Room adjacent to the Domed bar and patio.
Whether dining day or night, spring or fall, Gram and Dun’s warm, appealing, delicious, and social atmosphere will leave you wanting to return again, and again, and again. It's easily one of Kansas City's best local restaurants with a flair (and actual flare!) for coastal coziness.
