Started in 2012 by owner and general contractor, David Hopkins, and his wife and designer, Carole Ann, Dogwood Construction has made its place in Aiken as one of the best. Hopkins began his career building barns but the company has evolved to also focus on custom-built and designed homes in the area. This husband/wife team provides an amazing support system throughout the process as both David and Carole Ann have a clear understanding of each project from start to finish and trust each other’s abilities and talents. David is still a very hands-on contractor; his love for building and creating sets him apart from others in the industry as he remains involved in the physical building of each project. Clients appreciate that level of care and commitment. Carole Ann works from the design side of builds to extensively break down customer’s selections. Her goal is to make the process as simple and easy as possible and to think of everything so that nothing gets missed. The couple helps their clients work through decisions and issues that may arise, and they believe that “...having a customer who trusts the process and our intentions makes all the difference.”
For those who are looking to start building a home, David and Carole Ann suggest that their clients start with house plans, get multiple quotes, and be very thorough about what they want and need in their home. Research and preparation are important. Carole Ann also suggests, “...for anyone looking to build, update or just decorate, just go for it. If you like something, try it. You’ll be amazed at how you can transform your space by removing fear from the equation and just going for it.”
