When 18 Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) Emergency Response Team members arrived at Venice’s Lakeside Lutheran Church (LLC) in early October, they immediately got serious about helping to clean up the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian.
Graciously welcomed by LLC’s Pastor David Dahlke, the team’s first project was the removal of damaged trees at LLC itself. Then they headed to Redeemer Lutheran Church & School in Englewood, which had experienced heavy damage.
In all, the LCC volunteers spent three weeks assessing damage and helping others in the Venice, Englewood and Port Charlotte area recover from Hurricane Ian. The effort included Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte and several area homes.
During that time LLC parishioners prepared breakfast for the hardworking crews before they began their workday and, in the evening, additional parishioners prepared dinner and planned meals for the next day.
Working together: it’s FAITH IN ACTION!
