Finding Community

Walton Fayetteville creates community through relationships.

Most people think of apartments as short-term places to live. But Walton Fayetteville, which offers one, two, and three-bedroom apartment homes, wants its residents to be part of something better.

“We feel passionately that having a strong sense of community and belonging are essential to creating an environment where people truly thrive,” Walton Communities Marketing Director Melissa Whirledge said.  “One can “live” anywhere. You just need four walls and a roof. But to build a life that is fulfilling you need the support of a strong community.”

Whirledge said Walton creates community through relationships. “We connect with the community around us including local businesses and schools and we work to create opportunities for our residents to connect—not just with us, but with each other. We work with a variety of community and non-profit partners to ensure we have the resources our residents may need in times of challenge. We hope that our residents and team members will recall their time at Walton with great fondness and not just a stop along the way.”

Unlike many other developments, Walton owns and manages its 30 communities located throughout Georgia. Walton Fayette boasts modern décor, beautiful landscaping, and amenities that include a resort-style pool, fitness center, and a self-service pet spa. “Each decision we make is through the lens of what will benefit our residents today, tomorrow, and in the future because we plan to be here today, tomorrow, and in the future,” Whirledge said.

After 35 years in business, Walton and its employees still follow the company’s core values:  Integrity is Essential, Model the Golden Rule, Serve with Passion, Make it Better, Replace Yourself, Be a Positive Influence, Be Generous, Practice Good Stewardship.

Whirledge believes Walton Fayetteville and its proximity to green space and City Center Park is a good fit with Walton’s vision of community. “We are so excited to be in Fayetteville,” she said, adding that bringing Walton residents to an area benefits the community and businesses around it. “Fayetteville residents are so passionate about their city and home. We have felt strong support from the beginning. For our communities to be successful, this support from the existing residents, businesses, and elected officials is critical. We love the work that the Southern Conversation Trust is doing to steward the public nature areas in Fayetteville, as well.”

Whirledge praises Fayetteville’s walkable community vision and city leadership’s help with making Walton Fayette a reality.  "Our belief is that there is strong mutual benefit to this and together we can create an incredible experience for both Walton residents and the residents of Fayetteville in general.”

With housing shortages and high interest rates, Whirledge said renting an apartment home is a great way to find quality housing without the upfront investment or long-term commitment of purchasing a home. “We find that some of our residents choose to stay with us for a season and others make our communities home for the long term,” she said. “Others may have grown up in a Walton Community as children and return as adults when they are starting out on their own. Others return to enjoy their retirement with a carefree lifestyle. We truly offer something for each unique stage of life.

“Walton Communities is committed to having a positive impact in the Fayetteville community and to providing an incredible option for housing that offers a quality home with an unparalleled level of service.”
