Are health or wellness goals on your list in 2024? You're not alone. Unfortunately, few achieve their goals. Too often, our exuberance results in pain. The truth is, health isn't an easy task. It's not a 90 day challenge. Active daily participation is needed to achieve and maintain it. This gets harder as we age, especially because we miss a key factor—mobility. By our thirties, we've established muscular imbalances that cause poor movement patterns. This leads us down the road to premature degeneration and increased injury. Some let that scare them into exercise avoidance, when in fact, it should inspire the relearning of "moving well." Why? Because movement is medicine.
Here's where people tend to think of stretching (flexibility). Flexibility is the passive stretch of tissues. But mobility is flexibility plus neuromuscular (brain-body) control working to move actively through a range of motion, such as a squat. So, if you want to move well as you age, decrease pain and injury, keep up with your kids, play sports, or whatever else makes you happy, a full movement assessment and plan can help you get moving and stay moving.
