What's the secret to your success?
I am so passionate about helping women succeed in the business world. The mission behind my first company, LIVELY, was to help women live confidently, purposefully and passionately and I live that credo every day. Success is a combination of hard work (duh) and surrounding yourself with the right people. From investors, advisors, other incredible founders, and always, my team. I also try not to sweat the small stuff. It’s easier said than done, but I try to be cognizant of what really matters.
How do you persevere through the tough times?
I have a few things I do to rally when things are tough; spend time with my husband and my family, exercise (love running, walking, moving, anything!) and staying positive! I believe there is always a solution, so I pause and then focus on what I or my team can do to get to the next step. It’s all about nurturing your mind like a muscle to be ready and strong for when the tide hits.
What do you want to achieve next?
I want to break the stereotype that women can only create brands FOR women. GORGIE is a brand made by women, for ALL! Women can create and own businesses that are not just for women but for the world. We can own multiple businesses as well! It’s no longer enough to just have C-suite seats. We should build, create, own… and change the world, together.
Have you drawn professional inspiration from other women? Tell us about someone who has inspired you.
Diane von Furstenberg! She’s timeless, timely and fashionable! She’s been relevant for decades and continues to adapt with the times while staying true to her core values.
What would you tell young women who are just starting to work? What would you like them to know?
To all of the young women who are just starting their careers, you’ve got this! You are more powerful, creative, and resourceful than you know. Just start, and figure it out along way!
How do you encourage women not to give up?
Being a woman is something so special – remember that! We have made amazing strides in such a short time in the workplace, politics, socially – and there is still so much more to come. We need you! We make humans! What else can we do!
What are ways you stay grounded and take care of yourself?
I always have a GORGIE to start my day which keeps me energized and balanced throughout the day while I work and take care of my amazing family. I also make sure to sleep well, and move my body every day!
What does leadership mean to you?
To me, leadership means setting an example that young people can look up to. It also means being someone that a team can always rely on. It’s showing you can be present for your family, your loved ones and your business.
