On March 21, music enthusiasts in the Venice area will be in for a treat as The Dallas Brass, one of America's premier musical ensembles, takes center stage at the Venice Performing Arts Center. Founded in 1983 by Michael Levine in Dallas, Texas, The Dallas Brass offers a unique fusion of traditional brass instruments and percussion, creating a musical experience that spans classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood, and patriotic tunes.
What sets The Dallas Brass apart is not just their exceptional musical prowess but their commitment to enriching communities through music. Derek Blankenship, a former professional trumpet player and current Executive Director of the Venice Institute for the Performing Arts (VIPA), fondly recalls just such a high school experience. He is thrilled to note that the ensemble work will be working with the young musicians of the Venice High School Band during this upcoming performance.
