There is an exciting art event coming to Southwest Idaho. From October 8th -15th, the Eagle Plein Air Festival turns Eagle into an outdoor living art gallery with more than eighty artists painting the Idaho landscape. This nationally-recognized event brings painters to learn, paint and compete in a variety of events. Highlights include artist workshops, free community art events, quick draw competitions, nocturnal paint out, art sale and wet paint auction.
The festival, founded in 2014 by Finer Frames owner Meg Glasgow, was created to highlight the unique art of plein air painting. “This event brings patrons and artists together unlike any other art show,” says Meg. “This stand-out event turns painting into a spectator sport in spectacular fashion.”
This free festival, promoting the art of outdoor painting, provides opportunities for people of all ages to interact directly with artists. Community members are invited to watch the painters at each of the daily Paint Out locations and during the special Quick Draw competitions. There are also free arts education and learning opportunities. Professional artists offer free daily painting lessons during the lunch hour on the patio at Finer Frames in Downtown Eagle.
The week-long festival begins early Saturday, October 8th. Downtown Eagle is buzzing with excitement for the Harvest Festival in Heritage Park, which makes it the perfect time for the Quick Draw event. No shoot-out in the street -- in this event, artists are armed with easels, paints and brushes. The painters have only two hours to complete a painting while patrons look on. The wet paintings will be judged by Artist Allie Zeyer, this year's Festival judge, and paintings will be available for sale.
Thursday, October 13, offers art lovers a special opportunity to watch the top artists in the new Quick Finish Invitational and Auction. Fifteen artists hurry to complete a painting while patrons sip, dine and enjoy live music on the patio at Rembrandts. Afterwards, the wet paintings will be immediately sold in a live auction.
The festival concludes on Saturday October 15, 2022, when the community has the chance to see all these unique paintings of Idaho at the closing awards, show and sale event at Finer Frames from 12 pm – 6 pm. For more information, visit EaglePleinAir.com
