Leon has always been an ‘out of the box’ thinker. As a young man, he could usually be found doing something creative—cartooning, painting cars, diamond cutting—anything he could fabricate or restore was appealing to him.
His passion for crafting cabinetry was ignited when a next-door neighbor took him under his wing and patiently taught him the trade over a four-year period.
“Precision was everything,” he recalls of his apprenticeship. “If it wasn’t tight, it wasn’t right.”
“It was extremely tough sometimes when, as a trainee, every other thing you did was wrong! Luckily, I loved and appreciated it, so I never quit.”
In terms of competition, there may be an abundance, but Leon and Dhasti are confident that what Interior Exterior Designs has to offer puts them in a league of their own.
“Our motto is ‘For Those Who Know the Difference,’” he says.
“There are thousands of cabinet shops in the LA and OC areas, and each operates differently. Some order cabinets and assemble them in the shop, some do simple, construction-style cabinets, and some order the cabinets and have installers do the installation,” he explains.
“We, on the other hand, specialize in design and do every phase ourselves—drafting, shop drawings, engineering, milling, fabrication, finish, and installation—all under one roof.”
