Peace of Mind

Teresa's House's top priority is making sure loved ones are cared for while living life to the fullest.

When it comes to moving a loved one to a memory care community, it can be an anxiety-inducing experience. Will they be happy? What will their quality of life be? Are there people there who will care and love them like family would? At Teresa’s House, the resounding answer is yes.

Teresa’s House is curated to feel exactly like home. The community is proud of its top-tier, luxury layouts and amenities in its memory care village, which are designed to provide comfort for those living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of memory impairment or dementia. Every small detail has been designed to ensure residents feel at ease and not like they are in a clinical environment.

Maria Long, Corporate Sales Director at Teresa’s House, emphasized that this part of life simply is a different chapter for residents and that they all have their own paths carved out with unique wants and needs.

“Wherever they are on their journey, we meet them where they are,” Long explained. “It all starts and ends with one word: love.”

Co-owners Godwin Dixon and Teresa Whittington opened Teresa’s House in Argyle last year. The community currently features four 16-suite ranch-style homes designed to feel like home. The 4.1-acre grounds are beautifully landscaped with walking paths, equine stables and raised garden beds, giving it a neighborhood-style feel.

Residents have chef-inspired meals every day and can enjoy a long list of activities to help keep their minds sharp, such as cooking classes in a retro-style kitchen, social events on the open patios, and hanging out in the Classic Car Garage, which boasts of a 1965 cherry red Mustang that community members can tinker with in the state-of-the-art activities center.

“Our memory care village allows our residents to live relatively normal lives with choices and independence,” said Michelle Holland, Community Relations Director of Teresa’s House. “We have designed our community to bring the same familiarity of home here with them so they can feel comfortable in their living room, their dining room, and they can see the open kitchen and their meals being prepared.”

Most importantly, Teresa’s House employs tenured healthcare professionals who cater to each resident’s individual needs. Qualified CNAs and nurses are onsite around the clock every day, ensuring that residents are safe and cared for. Rather than have residents with different needs combined in one area, each of the four ranch homes caters to a specific level of senior care.

Should a resident’s health status change, the houses are identical so they can transition to the home that best fits their needs without the confusion of adapting to a new environment.

“We really truly do get to know each and every one of our residents and their families so their loved ones can live a purposeful life,” Holland said. “If you're experiencing dementia, then you should be living in a community with these professionals who know and understand the disease process and can really encourage the residents to live, not just exist."

Teresa’s House welcomes everyone to learn more about the community and visit the grounds in person. Call 940-514-6908 to schedule a tour or stop by their Argyle location at 321 Tucker Street.
