As the skilled trade industry continues to grow in America, factors such as job security, better wages, and customized work schedules inspire men and women to pursue employment in these honorable service areas. Adrian Vigil, however, credits his pursuit of the plumbing trade to a calling to serve and a desire to make a direct impact on the needs of residents in his community.
“I remember one of my first service calls, I had a full-time job at the time and was working after hours and weekends,” Adrian shared. “When I arrived at the trailer and saw the desperate need this single mom had for hot water, I did what I could to get her hot water heater up and running. After the repair, I fired up the heater, and lo and behold, she had hot water! The appreciation and gratitude that she expressed and the understanding that I got this gal hot water for her and her children was extremely rewarding and inspirational.”
Adrian is the founder and owner of Top Notch Plumbing in Greeley, Colorado, a company that has been faithfully serving the area for the past seven years. Adrian’s journey as a plumber began over twenty years ago when his grandfather brought him to his Uncle Joe’s house to help him find employment. After learning the skills to become a plumber alongside his uncle, Adrian found work at a plumbing company. There he gained commercial experience and earned his license as a Master Plumber. After some time in the industry, he recognized a desire to build a new culture within a company and experienced a renewed passion for serving his local community through his own service calls. Adrian established Top Notch as an LLC on October 2nd, 2016, but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
“At the beginning, I didn’t really have a ton of money on my own,” admits Adrian. “What I earned from Top Notch went straight back into the company, and I was thankful to not have too many outside expenses at the time. After continuing to grind away at the costs, I was finally able to bring on my Uncle Joe - the one who got me started in the plumbing trade - as my first employee, and that was a special moment.”
As the company has grown, it now boasts a team of twenty employees. Adrian wanted this team to be more than a group of coworkers, so he worked to develop trust and to create opportunities to bond by highlighting the unique skillset of each of his employees.
“You can’t acquire a family, but you can acquire a team,” says Adrian. “Whether it’s through our work, our company BBQs and camping for bonding time, or coming together to serve at United Way’s Weld Project Connect - our team at Top Notch Plumbing strives to be connected and committed to serving one another and the community to the highest possible degree.”
Apart from the strong team culture that Top Notch Plumbing has built, they have also been named Greeley’s Best Plumbing Company for the past four years (2020 - 2023) and currently serve as the City of Greeley’s contract plumbing company. Even with those shining accomplishments, however, Adrian continues to recognize and stress the role that teamwork and resilience have played in establishing what the company has become today.
“I didn’t get to where I am today, with this company, by myself,” shares Adrian. “I can say that I am truly blessed by the team that we have here. What each individual brings to the table has created a strong foundation that will carry us in our goals of serving with excellence.”
As of 2024, Top Notch will be officially rebranding as Top Notch Plumbing, Heating & Air, with plans to offer extensive HVAC services to customers by the end of the year.
